The communication of the ferret

Our ferrets have the ability to speak like humans, but this does not mean that they are not able to communicate. Ferrets transmit many sounds and attitudes to try to tell us what they want. Unfortunately, People, not always understand what they are trying to say. Read this dictionary ferret-man to help you better understand your ferret.

As ferrets express emotions

Afraid: your ferret could scream and hide, or curl up and shiver. If you have just purchased your ferret, let him come to you, rather than chase to catch it. If frightened may bite. Try offering a treat on a spoon to lure you.

Curiosity: Cats are known for their curiosity, But ferrets are no less! Ferrets usually like to explore by walking down the body in search of something. To indicate that they are excited about their discovery can make noises such as the classic “pot pot”.

Danger: If a ferret thinks he is in danger emit a sound or a whistle strudulo, arch your back, sfurettare (emit a foul-smelling substance from its glands, if he still) or you poop in the floor.

Excited: Your ferret can do the dance of war or produce a very strong potpottio. As a ferret potpotta cautious with his head down, a ferret excited potpotta usually with the head raised. More excited is the ferret, faster and stronger potpotta.

Cautious: your ferret and flees from something blows with his head down as if they were afraid, but it really does not run and hide like a ferret that has really scared of something.

Hungry: A ferret that bites or carries around an empty bowl probably want something to eat. Your ferret may also walk towards you and then go to the bowl to indicate what he wants. It is usually better to have dry food available at all times of your ferret so he can eat whenever he wants. Just change the food regularly so it stays fresh, especially in humid climates.

Crazy: A ferret in a fit of madness can potpottare, emit a hissing sound, biting or chasing another ferret. It can also blow or bite its owner, but aggression towards people is rare in a well-trained animal.

Pain: Ferrets are very stoic animals, which often do not express the pain. There are some exceptions, for example if you crush the tail or a toe, could scream, blowing or potpottare very quickly, as if imprecasse. If you feel unwell could flatten out the floor and close your eyes. In this case you need a trip to the vet.

Depressed: Ferrets can be depressed, just like people. The loss of a mate or the master may trigger depression. The ferret may seek his mate, in the places where his friend was usually. The ferret may be down, as if he felt pain and sighing a lot, but will not have the squinty eyes of a ferret in pain, physical.

Territorial: Some ferrets are very territorial and possessive toward some toys, Read, bedding or food. I have seen ferrets blow if someone else tries to steal his food, situation that often progresses in a fight with a lot of screams and bites. This usually happens between two ferrets and ferrets, and not between persons. When you give a prize, make sure that ferrets are far enough away not to react to each other, and hold something else on hand so if one ferret starts to tyrannize over the other, You can lure him with something.

A health problem

Insulinoma: This is not an active communication from the ferret, but it is useful to learn the symptoms of this disease. The insulinoma is a tumor of the pancreas that causes an excess of sugar in the blood. Symptoms may include abundant salivation, idle time, verse and excessive sleep. These ways can include sounds like cries, hiccup, cries or moans. The ferret may also have seizures. Talk to your vet about the disease, while your ferret is still young so you know what to do if your ferret should, one day, during his life, develop an insulinoma. This is often fatal if untreated.

The significance of certain behaviors

Dance of War: It is a sign of excitement and joy. Your ferret is very happy about something and wants the whole world know. It can also mean that your ferret wants to play. Ferrets sometimes they do it with such enthusiasm that bounce on the beds or furniture on the stairs. Keep it in a safe and secure if it often tends to.

Grasp with his teeth: It is a painful bite, is a carefully place the teeth. It usually means that your ferret wants us to follow in. Some ferrets actually trying to drag your hand in their cage. You're treated like I was his favorite toy. If you try to pull his hand back, but, the ferret could forge stronger and make you sick.

Jump: If your ferret is close to your feet and is jumping on your leg, This is usually a sign that wants to be picked up or wants to play. If you're in the kitchen or near where something good is costudito, it is possible that he is begging for something to eat.

Kiss: Just as in humans, your ferret who kisses on the lips can be a sign of affection. It may also mean that he likes the taste of your lip balm or turkey sandwich you ate for lunch.

Lick: Most ferrets will lick to clean. But if your ferret licks, may be indicative of a couple of things.
1. He's trying to intenerirti.
2. She loves the taste of salty skin or lotion you used.
3. Might precede a bite. Nobody really knows why some licking before biting. Perhaps the licking is a warning for saying he wants to be put down, and then bites if you ignore this warning.

Bite: Some ferrets bite to get attention. A ferret may bite you walk away, so that it can chase. It might bite the hand to let you know that he does not like something you are doing.

Open your mouth mind plays: This is usually just an indication that your ferret is very excited. A ferret who does may be more inclined to bite excitedly.

Running back and forth: if your ferret running from you and then run again, could be an invitation to play or to follow. Maybe the bowl of food or of’ Water is empty or has his toy rolled under something and wants him out tiriate.

    • I bought this cage and it is a relaly nice and it is well constucted. Before I bought it I read the reviews here and there was a review by J. Thomas ferret mommy , that I paid close attention to, and she was absolutely right about the ferret getting her foot caught. Not more than five minutes after the ferrets were in their new cage, one got her foot caught on the edge of the shelf and was hanging upside down screaming. Praise the Lord we were sitting right there and were able to free her and she was alright. I'm surprised such good cage would have these terrible shelves. We removed the shelves and or going to wrap the ends with black duct tape. The ends have metal bars that hold the liner in place but it is not designed well and the ferret's feet get caught as they jump down. We are also going to wrap the ladders with rope so they can walk up and down better. Aside from that we love the cage and are glad we bought it, just want to warn people about the shelves as I think it is a serious threat to the ferrets.{amazon:3}
